How to put your decoration kit?

how to install your decoration kit

Installing a decorative kit is not complicated, it just requires a little patience and precision. To install your decorative kit in the best possible conditions, place yourself in a clean place and at room temperature.

For complete adhesion of your graphic kit, avoid sticking it on scratched or damaged fairings. Do not use window cleaner or acetone.

Step 1: Get the necessary equipment

To install your decorative kit, you must have the necessary equipment:

  • A cutter or scissors
  • A degreaser (methylated spirits or brake degreaser)
  • A hair dryer or heat gun
  • A clean cloth

Step 2: Clean and degrease your fairings

Cleaning and degreasing your fairings is one of the most important steps to maximize the long-term adhesion of your graphics kit.

First clean all your fairings with degreasing product, even if your fairings are new, because a layer of paraffin may be present. If you don't have a degreaser, you can use dishwashing liquid. Then dry the plastics with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Visualizing Locations

Before installing your decoration kit, you must visualize the location of each sticker. To do this, cut each sticker 1 cm from the edge of the decoration to place it on the fairing before removing the film.

Step 4: Glue the decorative kit

To apply the first sticker, opt for a small sticker to get the hang of it.

You should always start gluing from the center of the room. To help you keep the sticker in the desired position, you can use paint protection tape to help you.

Apply strong pressure from the middle to the outside of the sticker to remove air bubbles. You can help yourself with a squeegee with felt.

On raised parts, or when the sticker is too hard, you can heat it using a hair dryer or a heat gun to make it more malleable and facilitate its adaptation to the shape of the fairing.

Step 5: After your installation

Once the decorative kit is completely glued, heat it again by applying pressure on all surfaces, paying particular attention to the relief areas.

If you have any air bubbles left, prick the bubble with a needle in its center. Keep the needle in and heat the bubble. Then press to make it disappear

Once your decorative kit has been installed, leave it to rest for 48 hours so that the stickers adhere well to the fairings. And don’t hesitate to post a photo on Instagram of your motorcycle once your decoration kit is installed by tagging us @kitdeco_moto 🙂
